The CAED team is open for business, supportive, hands-on and ready to contribute to the community. Regular meetings encourage interactions between the Economic Development Department and our business community, sparking constructive conversations that drive innovative solutions to business challenges.
Wendy, as the Executive Director for the CAED team, is known for her creative, visionary and strategic leadership. Areas of expertise include labour force planning and supply strategies, identification of local and international economic indicators and immigration. She brings with her over 25 years of global experience in the public and private sectors, yet maintains a youthful glow. Her expertise has served domestic and international stakeholders by forging strong partnerships and successful collaborations. Wendy joined CAED in September 2014 and has been an innovative strategist for the team. She is passionate about her work on the CAED team, cheering them on and celebrating Abbotsford’s many successes.

Barb Roberts wears two hats here at the City of Abbotsford! One hat is the Community & Special Events Permit Coordinator, the other hat is the Film Liaison Officer for the City of Abbotsford’s Economic Development team working with location managers to make their film productions a reality.
Over her 15 years with the City of Abbotsford, Barb has coordinated many of the community’s showcase events such as Canada Day Celebrations, BC Lions Fan Fest and the 2010 Live Site and Torch Celebration. She is well known for not only leading and coordinating special events, but for developing partnerships and fostering long-lasting relationships throughout the whole community. This has always been, and will continue to be, a foundation of her career. Barb is energized by community engagement and teamwork!
Barb has an extensive background in marketing, community engagement and customer service. She graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology with a Marketing Management Diploma and from the American Management Association with a Certificate in Management. Barb stays inspired with continuous professional development, taking courses in Emergency Planning, Leadership and Event Management.

Kim is the CAED’s economic development coordinator. She’s a multi-tasking maestro who’s responsible for the coordination of all our departments’ activities, including research and management of our social media feeds.
Kim knows her way around City Hall, having worked in various capacities since 2008, and provides the Economic Development team with a sophisticated grasp of municipal policies and procedures. What she loves most about working with the CAED team is seeing the positive results we achieve for our community and for the wide variety of stakeholders we support.
If you are an entrepreneur, Kim understands your world, having run her own business she can offer you an insiders’ view of the scope and magnitude of what it takes to create and build a thriving, successful company.
Kim studied Business and Accounting at UNBC, and studied Real Estate at UBC Sauder School of Business. She is proud to call Abbotsford home.

Parul is passionate about being a part of building a greater Abbotsford and serving the public. As the Economic Development Officer for CAED, she is dedicated to nurturing business growth in her neck of the woods.
With over eight years of experience working within the realm of municipal government, including the City of Edmonton, the City of Coquitlam and the City of Abbotsford, Parul brings with her a strong foundation in municipal governance, public relations and international marketing of cities. She’s a passionate relationship builder, well versed in working with international delegations and is a bit of a globetrotter, having visited many of CAED’s key international markets. Parul holds a Commerce degree with a focus in international business and marketing from MacEwan University, and Public Relations credits from the University of Victoria.
Committed to the economic, social and environmental well-being of the community, Parul strives to provide accurate and reliable information about development initiatives that are available to the business community. Parul is pleased to be the conduit connecting local businesses with all three levels of government and with Abbotsford’s vibrant community.
